Hamachi:Die By The Sword
From LogMeInWiki
Die by the Sword is a computer swordfighting game developed by Treyarch, and published by Tantrum Entertainment (a sub-brand of Interplay Productions) on February 28 1998. The title's main selling point was the introduction of the VSIM control system, which allowed players to independently command the movement and swordfighting of their ingame avatars; running, jumping, and turning with one hand, while simultaneously slashing, stabbing, and parrying with the other. While many games of this type allow for a similar dualism, Die by the Sword remains to this day unique in its treatment of physically correct and force based melee combat.
Hamachi 1.0.3.0
As usual, to get this game working multiplayer TCP/IP, the server/host must do 3 tricks. Here's the drill:
TRICK 1
- Ensure you manually set Hamachi adapter IP address explicitly to exactly what your Hamachi 5.x.x.x address is (and subnet mask 255.0.0.0) and leave everything else blank).
- Ensure Hamachi adapter is top of the priority list (Network Connections, Advanced menu, Advanced Settings).
TRICK 2
- Disable ALL but Hamachi network adapters (yes, that includes your main internet connection, Local Area Network or ADSL)
- Start game and go through hosting/starting a game server (even if you are not going to host).
- ALT-TAB or CTRL-ALT-DEL to switch back to windows desktop. In Network Connections, right-click to enable your main internet connection (eg. AOL ADSL or Local Area Connection).
- Tell others to join in about 1 minute and retry joining couple of times if fail.
- ALT-TAB or click on game in task bar to switch back to game.
TRICK 3 (optional)
- Tell everybody to read http://logmeinwiki.com/wiki/Hamachi:Advanced_Peer_Menu on aliasing.
- Ensure everybody has aliased their list of friends (just the ones who are going to play)
- For each friend, right-click, Advanced.
- Peer VPN alias: aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd - the aaa.bbb.ccc (first 3 numbers) must be same as one's own first 3 numbers in their Hamachi IP. The ccc (4th number) is same as original Peer VPN address.
- eg. Peer VPN address: 5.202.43.168 (already set and is my friend's IP)
- eg. Peer VPN alias: (originally blank but set to) 5.146.5.168 (the 4th number is same as original friend IP, but first 3 numbers is same as my Hamachi IP)
Note: only the server/host of the game needs to do the above steps however it doesn't harm if the client also do the above steps.
