This issue is typically due to a corrupt config, specifically, the authentication your client does with the Hamachi servers fails.

Getting a clean config

If you've done all of the steps and the article, and are still receiving the error message, it's because you've missed a step. The most common is not disabling Hamachi fully before deleting the configuration folder. Hamachi writes this folder every time it closes, so you can't delete it with Hamachi running.

What to try if IP doesn't change to 0.0.0.0 after following above process?

It's most likely using registry settings. Try the following.

Start > Run > regedit

Expand the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Applied Networking > Hamachi

Delete all keys/values!

Make sure the Hamachi folder in %APPDATA% has been deleted, then restart hamachi. If the ip shows 0.0.0.0, you should be good to set it up from the beginning again. If the ip still hasn't changed, try searching though regedit (ctrl+f to search) for Hamachi, making sure to look for values of username, ip etc.

Account Expiry After Inactivity Period?

I have had the same problem with all of my Hamachi accounts (PCs / Laptops). I did not use Hamachi for quite a while (maybe a year), but left everything unchanged otherwise. Now I was unable to log in any of the clients, they were all rejected. I guess the logical consequence is that Hamachi kills inactive accounts after a while.

What worked for me

I also didn't log in forever, and when I eventually did I was receiving this error. I tried all of the solutions on this page and none of them worked. I'm running Vista. I was finally able to get it to work by doing the following:

  1. Close Hamachi
  2. Disable Windows Firewall (Control Panel)
  3. Rename Hamachi Folder in %APPDATA%
  4. Open Hamachi
  5. Create new account, DO NOT use the same username as last time.

Hope this helps. - Sean Feeney

On Windows Vista and Windows 7

You need to find the folder C:\Users\All Users\AppData\Local\ and there will be a folder named LogMeIn Hamachi if you are using Hamachi2 (or Hamachi if you use older Hamachi versions). Rename that folder to something like LogMeIn Hamachi_Backup.
